There is no getting around it: the summer holidays are one of the most highly anticipated periods of the year. However, before experiencing relaxation, no work and lots of new places far from home to discover there is always an obstacle to overcome…..Packing your suitcases!
On the surface, packing your bags seems a simple task, but how many times have you found yourself struggling to fit everything in? –To save space, protect your belongings and avoid unwanted airport fees for excessively heavy bags, Candy has come up with a few tips for you!
- Rather than bringing lots of books, download everything you need in digital format on your smartphone or tablet.
- Roll up your clothes instead of folding them: this way they will take up less space and will be less creased when worn.
- Put the most bulky clothes in special space-saving vacuum-packed travel bags.
- If you plan to take one or more pairs of shoes, use them as containers for socks and other non-fragile items... you will gain more space!
- Speaking of shoes, be sure to put them in plastic bags to avoid getting your clothes dirty.
- Suitcase weight and size limits vary from airline to airline. Always check the guidelines on the internet before packing your bags!
- To avoid unpleasant surprises at the check-in desk, weigh your luggage at home.
- Remember to put liquids in plastic bags.
- Acquire a pill organizer and use it to store smaller items (rings, earrings, pendants, etc.). This will make it harder to lose them!
- To avoid breakages, roll perfume bottles in socks or in sheets of bubble wrap.
- Remember to leave some extra space in your suitcase for the souvenirs that you buy while on holiday.
Have you made a note of our tips? Good luck with your packing and above all... enjoy your holidays!
